Summary
AG Surveying commercially managed this Network Rail funded 16 Railway Arch redevelopment project from tender stage through to final account for our client.
Our client, KN Group, approached AG Surveying because of our expert knowledge in QS-ing and project managing work within the rail and construction industries.
The works
The developer, Network Rail, initiated this railway arch redevelopment scheme to increase the rentable value of their arches by turning them in to more usable and aesthetically pleasing commercial spaces.
KN Group was the main contractor working for Network Rail and AG Surveying acted as the Estimating and Quantity Surveying Consultants working for KN Group.
The works included the following elements:
- Enabling Works – stripping out / demolition of existing linings, concrete floors, plant and front and rear arch infills
- Refurbishment Works – installation of new drainage system with DDA, WC and kitchenette, new concrete floors, arch linings, new electrics and water installations, the construction of new brick work, glazed arch infill with roller shutter and pedestrian side door
The outcome
The client was very happy with the service provided by AG Surveying.
We successfully secured this project for them (the first project of this type that they had won, and the first project we had priced for them). Once awarded, AG Surveying was appointed as the Procurement and Quantity Surveying team for the project and we managed to increase their margin from the 11% we allowed on subcontract packages at tender margin to in excess of 20% at final account stage.
